Home Placement


Target Group:  Vulnerable children away from home, 10 – 18 years.

Program: Home Placement Project focuses on early intervention, identifying and reaching out to children at Mumbai Central Train Terminus and other common stations of entry (ie, Dadar).  This project also actively addresses trafficking by working to identify and intervene in suspected trafficking of women and children as they arrive in the city via rail networks, as well as at Nashik, Maharashtra.

Services & Supports Offered: Counseling, family tracing, family restoration, and basic immediate needs including nutrition, clothing and shelter. Case work support is also offered to inmates of the Children's Home who have been referred by Saathi.

Issues being Addressed:  
Strengthening and sensitization of government systems to provide protection to vulnerable children.
Rescue of child labour.
Protection of vulnerable children at the railway terminuses.

Long Term Goals:  The Home Placement Project is focusing on activating and strengthening government systems so that the government agencies take responsibility for protection of incoming children.
