Girls Project - Short Stay Home

The short stay home at Malad started functioning from 1st April 2007. It is seen as an extension of the Girls Project, as well an Aftercare model. The home houses girls above 18 years of age. The girls are given the opportunity to learn various skills through which they build self esteem and confidence while working towards living independently.

The girls are motivated to contribute for the shelter, encouraging them to be self reliant. The contribution of the girls can be in various forms (monetary, employing needed skills, etc).

The short stay home has the capacity to house 15 – 18 girls. The spaciousness of the home provides an opportunity to think for oneself.  The ambience of the home brings a feeling of belongingness.

The programmes of the home will be shaped according to the vocational needs of the individuals. The average stay for girls in the short stay home is expected to be between 2 months and 2 years, until they are ready to independently move on.
