Child Sexual Abuse
Saathi is addressing issues of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation by acting as the convening organization for Forum Against Child Sexual Exploitation. About FACSE:
FACSE is network of individuals formed in 1996 - professionals and organizations working to eliminate sexual exploitation and abuse of children. The aim of FACSE is to create awareness about the issue of child sexual abuse among the general public by handling individual cases, conducting training and awareness programs, research studies, discussion groups, advocacy, and documentation. Within its efforts of advocacy the network is also lobbying for necessary changes in laws concerned with child sexual abuse.
Major activities include:
- Generation of educational materials addressing the issue of CSA and publishing in regional languages
- Taking part in campaigns against Child Trafficking, prevention of child abuse and neglect in India
- Being part of other larger forums working on the issue of child rights
- Supporting prosecution of child sexual abuse cases
- Conducting sensitization training for professionals in pertinent positions (teachers, doctors, nurses, child counselors, police, social workers, etc) and addressing legal perspectives of existing laws of CSA through workshops for city / civil court judges, public prosecturos and other lawyers and legal professionals.
