Saathi, registered in 1997, is a development organization in Mumbai (Bombay), India, committed to working with issues facing youth living on the streets and runaway or abandoned adolescent girls and young women. Over a decade worth of work has built an understanding of the links between the child entering the city or the institutionalized adolescent "aging out",  and the youth who has been on the streets for years. In response, Saathi expanded its work to meet these children as they arrive in the city in hopes of preventing them from entering life on the street and becoming accustomed to it. In a similar extension of the organization's experience and learning, intensive work with Children's Home and work with Aftercare systems is addressed across all of Saathi's programs.

In addition to these field action programs, Saathi puts significant energy in to awareness raising and advocacy, especially with government systems and the Law and Order officers. Training and capacity building for police officers, specific input on government policies in process, and acting as convening organization for networks addressing specific issues are just a few of the ways we take a macro approach in our work.

We invite you to explore our work, see where we've been and where we're going, and catch up on what's new in the organization. If you would like to contribute in any way, we welcome your support. If you would like to send us a message, please write to info@saathi.org .
